Third Wellhead Compression Train — Owner's Engineering, Procurement & EPC Technical Assurance

The individual case-study pages should all use this same problem → decision → engineering → outcome structure.

The Client Situation

Declining reservoir pressure in the Cashiriari field created a requirement for additional compression to support future production and maintain sufficient pressure for fluids entering the central processing facility.

The Decision at Stake

The operator needed to procure and execute a third compression train while confirming that both the proposed package and existing compression philosophy remained technically suitable for future duty.

ETA's Role

ETA was engaged as Owner Engineer, providing specialist gas compression engineering and operator-side technical support.

Procurement Support

  • Reviewed and validated compressor envelopes.
  • Checked sparing and standby philosophy for existing and proposed trains.
  • Prepared the turbo-compressor RFQ package.
  • Managed pre-bid and post-bid technical clarifications.
  • Completed technical evaluation of compressor bids.
  • Supported contract award recommendation.

EPC Technical Assurance

  • Reviewed detailed-design documents, datasheets and drawings.
  • Participated in compressor-facility HAZOP activities.
  • Provided manufacturing inspection and technical supervision.
  • Witnessed Factory Acceptance Tests for gas turbine and compressor bundles.
  • Supported field performance testing and commissioning.

The Outcome

The operator retained independent specialist technical oversight from procurement into EPC execution, helping preserve compressor-system requirements through vendor selection, detailed design, manufacture and testing.
